Violent disorder at Walsall English Defence League rally admitted

Another two men have admitted charges of violent disorder in relation to violent scenes which erupted during an English Defence League protest in Walsall.

Fighting broke out at the EDL rally in Leicester Street on September 29 last year and some stewards, EDL supporters and police suffered injuries.

Stephen Bennett, aged 23, of Fraser Road, Portsmouth, and Samuel Phipps, 18, of Lingfield Drive, Great Wyrley, appeared in front of Judge Michael Challinor at Wolverhampton Crown Court yesterday.

Each pleaded guilty to a charge of violent disorder. Their cases were adjourned for pre-sentence reports to be prepared.

They were released on conditional bail.
