Walsall shopping centre is sold to firm

The main shopping centre in Walsall has changed hands, it emerged today.

The Saddlers Centre in Park Street includes Marks & Spencer and Argos.

Property investment firm Topland Group has bought the 195,886 sq ft complex from Scottish Widows Investment Partnership for an undisclosed sum.

The centre curently has 48 units let to tenants, including Boots, Subway, Bodycare, Greggs and Vision Express.

Mark Kingston, co-managing director of Topland, said: "The acquisition of the Saddlers Centre is an exciting acquisition for us and will add to our already substantial retail portfolio. We liked the yield profile and the diverse tenant mix."

The firm is looking for similar opportunities in the sector, he added.
