Spelling wrong as Ellie Simmonds honoured with star
Paralympic swimming champion Ellie Simmonds has been honoured with a place on Birmingham's Broad Street Walk of Stars – but her name is wrongly spelled.
The 18-year-old gold medallist from Walsall was presented with her star at Edgbaston cricket ground yesterday, but with her surname incorrectly spelled as Simmons.
Broad Street manager Mike Olley said: "If there's any issues at all we will put them right, of course we will."
Other celebrities on the Walk of Stars include the likes of Ozzy Osbourne, Noddy Holder and Jasper Carrott.
Meanwhile, a parade and gala held to celebrate Ellie's successful summer raised £5,000 for the Dwarf Sport Association.
