Drug addict jailed after seven-day crime spree

A drug addict who launched a seven-day crime spree across the Black Country during which he stole a car to live in, has been jailed for three years.

Jagjeet Samra also broke into two homes and sold property stolen from two other burglaries, Wolverhampton Crown Court heard yesterday. The 33-year-old had been thrown out of a hostel where he owed rent, the court was told. Samra was finally arrested in Merridale Street, Merridale while standing alongside the stolen Mini.

Samra, a semi-qualified electrician of no fixed address, admitted, theft, two burglaries, three cases of handling stolen property and one offence of leaving a garage without paying for petrol between May 23 and 30.
