The in-demand writer spoke exclusively to the Express & Star and our sister publication the Shropshire Star.
In the first of a two-part interview, E L James tells:
The best-selling author said she was 'fed-up' with the media attention surrounding the series and added: "I can't own people's reaction to the books.
"My only dream was to see Fifty Shades of Grey in a bookshop - the explosion of interest has taken me completely by surprise."
The author of the phenomena that is the erotic Fifty Shades trilogy is bemused, but delighted by her success.
EL James, who in her 'other life' is former television producer and mother of two has seen her novels break all records.
Sales of the first in the steamy trilogy, quickly reached a million on the Kindle e-book reader, but Fifty Shades of Grey has broken print sales records too.
