A heartbroken lover bombarded his former partner with text messages and flowers before posting a revealing picture of her wearing nothing but her underwear on Facebook, a court heard.

Prosecutors want a restraining order placed on Wayne Hales following his month-long harassment of Rebecca Eaves, a former flame he dated for more than two years.

The 31-year-old's lawyer told Wolverhampton Magistrates Court Hales "accepted he had behaved inappropriately".

The court heard Hales' relationship with Miss Eaves finished at the end of last year.

Between November 21 and December 27 Hales, of Hamble Road, Merry Hill in Wolverhampton, sent dozens of text messages despite his ex-girlfriend's repeated requests for him to leave her alone, Mrs Maggie Meakin, prosecuting, said.

In the messages he requested the return of gifts and threatened to publish "revealing pictures of Miss Eaves in just her underwear, taken with her consent while they were in a relationship" on the social networking site.

He also sent her flowers and warned he would move to Newcastle, taking a pet dog they had bought while together, the court heard.

Eventually Hales posted a picture of Miss Eaves on his own Facebook page and was reported to police.

Mrs Meakin applied for a restraining order to be issued banning Hales from contacting Miss Eaves.

Mr Gregory Burke, for Hales, told magistrates: "My client was in a relationship with Miss Eaves for two years and three months.

"Upon their break up he accepts over a period of weeks he behaved inappropriately, sending numerous text messages and threats."

Hales, who pleaded guilty to harassment without violence yesterday, admitted the offence when arrested by police. Since his arrest he had not contacted Miss Eaves, Mr Burke added.

Bench chairman Mr Clive Westwood adjourned sentencing so the probation service can prepare a report.

Hales was granted conditional bail, not to contact Rebecca Eaves or go to her address, until March 8 when he is due to appear for sentencing.

Mr Westwood warned Hales the bench will consider jailing him.
