Saucy calendar is pick of crop

A saucy calendar which features young farmers and a leading figure in a country landowners organisation has sold more than 500 copies.

The Calendar Girls 2009-style fundraiser was the brainchild of members of the Eccleshall Young Farmers' Club and launched last year.

And Donna Tavernor, the Country Land and Business Association's (CLA) West Midlands rural adviser, jumped at the chance of raising cash for National Alliance of Childhood Cancer Parent Organisations.

Donna and her friends were photographed by CLA member Ann Williams, from Acton Trussell, in cheeky pastoral poses using farm gates, hay bales and other farmyard objects to hide the naughty bits.

Donna, aged 26, said: "I'm more used to giving advice to CLA members than needing advice, but I took all the advice I could when being photographed in the countryside with less than I wear on the beach."

Eccleshall YFC, which has members in Stafford and Penkridge, got sponsorship from local firms.

For more information or to buy a calendar contact Laura Parry on 07793 551810 or Emma Johnson on 07815 744270. The 61-strong club has a new members' evening at the Royal Oak pub in Eccleshall on Wednesday at 8.15pm.
