Essington Farm has had to make changes to their pick your own event this year to adhere to social distancing guidelines.

Tickets to pick pumpkins will now have to be booked in advance, to ensure there is no overcrowding in the field.

Richard Simkin, at Essington Farm, said: "The harvest is good this year, we had a mixed bag of weather – really hot, dry and then some really wet weather, but the pumpkins have come through it.

"Because of social distancing guidelines we have had to change the way we sell. We are still open for pick your own but you have to buy a ticket in advance, so we don't have unmanageable crowds and visitors can social distance in the field.

"It's proved very popular so far, people like the organisation and safety aspects, they know they can pick their own pumpkins safely without the crowds.

"We have got about 10 different variety of pumpkins, different sizes and shapes – tiny ones the size of tennis balls to giant ones – we also have a lot of white ones this year. There's quite a range.

"We are also selling pumpkins ready picked from the farm, so people who don't want to pick their own can still come down and buy a pumpkin."

Tickets cost £2 on peak days and £1 on off-peak days. Pumpkins range in price from £2 to £10, depending on size. The farm is open 9am to 5pm everyday for people to pick a pumpkin, up until Halloween.
