Annual Blast Off! Christmas party coming to Wolverhampton

One of the world’s most successful club nights returns to Wolverhampton this month for its annual Christmas party.

Blast Off! began at the city's Civic Halls in 1996 and is the world's second biggest club night in the world's history – second only to Manumission in Ibiza – having welcomed nearly one million customers through its doors.

This year however, the iconic club night will be held at Wolverhampton Academy, previously known as Starworks Warehouse, due to the Civic Halls being closed for refurbishment.

The event attracted around one million people and mainly focused on indie music until 2014, when it was announced that Blast Off! would be no more.

Nearly 1,300 people signed an Express & Star petition to save it when the decision to close was originally announced.

Although no longer running as a regular club night, Blast Off! still returns for special events throughout the year.

For this special event, a series of former resident DJs will return for the night.

Blast Off is at Wolverhampton Academy on December 22. It will run from 10pm to 3am.

DJ Ian Davies, owner of Stay Loose records located in the city, has an offer of £10 for a ticket plus a Blast Off! t-shirt available in store.

Tickets are also on sale at Oldies Records and the venue, or online through the Civic Halls website.
