The festive three-day market will line Queen Square, Dudley Street and Lichfield Street from the weekend of Friday December 14.

More than 100 stalls are expected to fill the city centre streets offering a number of food and gifts.

Alongside a Victorian funfair there will be a number of traditional and international street food, local produce, seasonal handcrafted and home-baked treats, Christmas decorations and holly wreaths, festive novelties and exclusive gifts, accessories and jewellery.

Entertainment will include street artists, choirs, vocalists, chimney sweeps and dance displays as well as Victorian themed stilt walkers.

The market will be open from 11am - 7pm on Friday, 10am - 7pm on Saturday and 10am - 5pm on Sunday.

At 5pm on the Friday, Queen Square will welcome local school children, choirs and music from Wolverhampton Brass Band who will sing carols for market-goers.

Wolverhampton Council cabinet member for city environment, Councillor Steve Evans, said: “Last year’s Victorian Christmas Market was the largest festive market the city has seen.

“There will again be a variety of stalls offering festive goodies, plenty of food and drink, and fun activities for families to enjoy at this special time of year.

“It is also the ideal opportunity to make a day of it and visit Wolverhampton’s attractions, range of independent retailers and High Street names, or take the weight of your feet and relax in one of the city’s cafes, pubs and restaurants.”

While the market is on, a number of roads will be closed to traffic.

From 8pm on Thursday December 13 until midnight on Sunday December 16 Queen Square and Lichfield Street will be closed in both directions between the junctions for North Street, Victoria Street and Princess Street and Princes Square.

Darlington Street will be closed between the junctions with Red Lion Street and North Street while Dudley Street will be closed between King Street and Queen Square.

Exchange Street and Lich Gates will be fully closed also.

Buses on the affected streets will be diverted and passengers are encouraged to use alternative stops on Stafford Street and Wolverhampton Bus Station.
