The festival was due to be held at West Park, kicking off today and running all weekend. But there was no sign of the tents this afternoon and it was listed as cancelled on events website evensi.uk

A council spokesman confirmed tonight that the event had been cancelled by the organisers.

The festival was due to be held inside a huge beer tent at West Park and include a showcase some of the best and authentic Oompah bands.

There was also due to be a large selection of traditional German foods and 30,000 litres of beer.
