Oh-oh-heaven – Sir Roger Moore seen in a Banks’s beer advert from 2000

Sir Roger Moore's death on Tuesday sparked a Twitter tribute from Banks's bosses.

The Black Country brewery posted a clip of the advert from 2000 adverts starring Sir Roger and wrote: "R.I.P Roger Moore, one of the greats and of course who could forget this?"

The former James Bond star was flown over from his home in Switzerland to film the two ads – which were his British TV commercial debut.

He saunters into a bar wearing a white tuxedo and says XXX

As the legendary actor approaches the bar a pint of Banks's is handed over to him before he takes a swing.

The advert ends with the iconic slogan – 'Very Smooth, Very Mooreish'.

Birmingham-based agency Wallis Tomlinson created the 30-second ads but were originally told by advertising watchdogs they could not use the phrase 'moreish' to describe their product because it might encourage over-indulgence.

So they struck on the idea of playing on Sir Roger's surname to retain the slogan 'very smooth, very Mooreish, very Bank's bitter.'
