The former The Ticket Unsigned page stars, fronted by former Star journalist Jordan Harris, will be releasing The Monkey on March 8, complete with an acid-tinged psychedelic video to promote it.

It will be released on all digital platforms, with the video out on their YouTube channel the same day, and follows on from debut track Move To This which arrived last summer.

Inspired by the sounds of Vulfpeck, The Stone Roses and James Brown, the band have put together an "extremely catchy" and "super funky" new single that is "strong and sleek in equal measures".

It was recorded at Wolverhampton's Magic Garden Studios with Gavin Monaghan, who has worked with the likes of The Blinders, Brummeis The Twang, Staffordshire/Birmingham band Editors and Manic Street Preachers, alongside his countless credits helping local unsigned talent realise their dream of recording material.

Vocalist Harris said: "The track is described by us as ‘a victory for confidence over conformity’, and sees the core of RootNotes' musical power embellished with keyboards, trumpets and jungle-friendly sound effects.

"The lyrics are uplifting, touching on rebellion and mental strength through a psycho-analysis of the song's primary character."
