Created by local writer Oliver Bennett, Unforgotten Heroes, which takes place in Stafford during World War II, follows the story of 18-year-old Fred Harlow and his loved ones.

The show will feature events from the local area during the time, such as the German bombing of the English Electric factory on Lichfield Road.

The musical will premiere in Stoke during spring 2021, producers said, with the team behind the show holding an audition say at Oulston Village Hall on October 17/

The team will be casting all principal roles as well as a chorus ensemble featuring performers of all ages.

They are also seeking a boy aged around 7 and a girl aged around 10 for speaking roles within the show.

Audition packs with further information and all music/script excerpts needed to audition are available by emailing unforgo10heroes@gmail.com and info can also be found on the show’s pages on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Joshua Bennett, who wrote the music for the show, said: “It was important for us to ensure that this very local of musicals began its life in our own area. We really want performers from local communities to come and be part of this adventure.”

Coming from a musical family, Oliver and Joshua Bennett have lived in the Silkmore area of Stafford for most of their lives having attended St Leonard’s Primary before heading to Walton High School and Weston Road High School.

They and their parents have all featured in many amateur productions in Stafford over the years and Joshua is currently completing his training at the London School of Musical Theatre.

The script and additional lyrics for the show have been written by professional actor, writer and director, Eric Potts.
