George Salter Academy, which is sponsored by Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT) ran the show for three days with an interchangeable cast of 76 students from across all year groups.

The school also introduced 'gold tickets' to the performance, which included a three-course meal before the show, proving a big hit with audience members.

Organisers said the show was a massive success with pupils, staff and families who came to watch.

By the end of the three days the production had been seen by more than 500 people. Lead actor Aaron, who played the part of Troy Bolton, said that being part of the show really boosted his confidence, and feeling the energy from the audience and cast was something that he will never forget.

Drama teacher Miss Clark said: “It was a wonderful collaborative experience for students and staff alike.

"The final performances were testament to the outstanding work ethic shown by the cast over the last six months and was a fantastic celebration of their talents through the arts.

"The show was a collective effort, with pupils showing off a range of talents from acting to behind the scenes work. The performing arts department would like to thank all their students for their amazing commitment, dedication and hard work."
