The team is holding a special audition session this coming Sunday for its chorus which needs a large number of children and from those participants, players for the characters of Oliver and Dodger will be chosen.

Parents and guardians are being urged to apply for their child to be invited to the event which will start at 9.30am at a venue which is will be disclosed only to those who contact the company personally.

Those interested should send an email to bilstonoperatic@hotmail.co.uk or telephone the company on 07798 792248 to request an application form and to get more details about the show.

Performances of Lionel Bart's Oliver! will be at the Grand Theatre, in Wolverhampton, from November 17 to 21.

Adult auditions will be held on March 23 and the same registration process will apply.

Bilston Operatic Company chairman Brenda Wilson says: "We are looking boys and girls for the chorus which calls for a lot of children. From those we hope to fill the parts of Oliver and Dodger.

"This is for our adult company production and we perform those at The Grand.

"Those wishing to audition will not be able to turn up to the venue and parents need to contact us and go through the application process first."

Last autumn the company performed My Fair Lady at the Lichfield Street theatre, while its youth company performed Legally Blonde at Dormston Theatre, in Sedgley.

The youth section is preparing for a production of Disney hit High School Musical and will return to Dormston from April 29 to May 2.
