The 70-year-old pop star and actress is returning to the iconic role after last playing her in the West End run of the show in 2012.

Lyn said: "I am beyond thrilled to be returning to Blood Brothers in this iconic role.

"I'm honoured to have been given the opportunity to undertake this 'farewell tour' by my good friend Bill Kenwright.

"It's such a privilege to be able to play Mrs Johnstone one final time."

The musical has won four awards for Best Musical in London and seven Tony Award nominations on Broadway.

Since it's first performance at Liverpool comprehensive school in 1981, then onto the Liverpool Playhouse in 1983, 'Blood Brothers' has performed sell out seasons in the US, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and Japan.

The show even ran for 24 years at London's West End, one of three musicals to achieve the milestone.

Lyn first played the role in 1997 along with numerous tours.

On top this, she has starred in the 2013 UK tour of Cabaret as Fraulein Schneider, Boy George's musical Taboo and in Footloose the Musical.

Lyn's rise to fame started in the 1970s when she was a member of the New Seekers.

On their 1972 Eurovision Song Contest Entry, Beg, Steal or Borrow, she was the lead vocalist.

Lyn was also the lead vocalist for the groups number-one hit You Won't Find Another Fool Like Me.

The group went onto have their biggest hit, I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing, adapted into a jingle for Coca-Cola, which sold 20 million copies, remaining one of the best selling singles in the UK.

Blood Brothers will be coming to the Birmingham Hippodrome from September 30 to October 12.
