Lakeview and Waters Edge Care Home, off Stafford Road, marked the start of the most wonderful time of the year with a day of festivities, entertainment and a light switch on.

Singer Pippa, who reached the semi-finals of the ITV talent show with her dog Buddy in 2011, entertained the residents with her Christmas Show ahead of turning on the Christmas lights.

Tracy Parsons, care home manager, said: "All the residents are looking forward to the start of this special time of year and this special visitor as many of them watched the show and they couldn't wait to hear her beautiful voice."

Other entertainment on the day included a 20 piece Choir Bel Canto performing Christmas songs.
