Bloo, an 11-year-old Birman cat, has won the competition launched by new business account ANNA (Absolutely No-Nonsense Admin) and the sound will be used for contactless payments made from their debit card.

Bloo’s owners Ben and Vics Woodford, from Stafford, rescued him in 2016, and decided to put him forward for the competition after seeing it advertised on social media.

The pair co-own Fennec Labs, a virtual and augmented reality business, and Bloo the official office cat, provides stress relief during busy periods.

Vics said: “I work from home and Bloo loves nothing more than interrupting me with his different miaows. The ANNA competition sounded like a fun contest so we thought why not.”

Ben added: “Bloo’s a very talkative cat and it’s easy to get him to miaow on cue so we thought it was definitely worth a shot of winning.”

Bloo went on to beat entries from cats from all over the UK and his meow is now expected to be heard up and down the country as ANNA celebrate reaching 5,000 customers.

Daljit Singh, chief design officer at ANNA, said: “It’s fair to say that we had a lot of fun judging the thousands of miaow entries and we couldn’t have wished for a better way to celebrate our 5,000th customer!

"Bloo is a star in the making and we’re so happy to have been the ones to have discovered his talent for the purrfect miaow.”
