Victory in Europe (VE) Day was celebrated at the Museum of Cannock Chase, on Valley Road, Hednesford, as hundreds of people turned out.

It was held on Saturday May 4 from 11am to 4pm ahead of the actual anniversary date of May 8.

Military re-enactors were joined at the event by vintage vehicles, stalls, military displays, a vintage barbershop and a wartime choir.

The musical element to the day didn't stop there as lessons in the iconic Lindy Hop dance were put on as well as performance from The Henderson Big Band.

The group of musicians from Cannock recreate the sound of Glenn Miller and the 1940's era jazz and swing.

Due to dangerous wind speeds on the day, the RAF has to cancel the Hurricane flypast which would have flown over the museum.

VE Day marks the day that the Allied Forces formally accepted Nazi Germany's unconditional surrender on Tuesday May 8 1945.

The formal surrender of German forces occupying the Channel Islands did not happen until the following day, on May 9 1945, which then marked the end of the Second World War in Europe.
