Barry the cocker spaniel visits Baley, a creation on display as part of Staffordshire scarecrow exhibition

The dog – dubbed Baley – has been spotted by people strolling through the Pattingham countryside or walking their own pet pooches.

It was created by David Roberts.

Mark Doggett, who trains medical detection dogs, said the structure was a great addition to anyone walking through the fields. He walked cocker spaniel Barry past the straw structure as part of the dog’s training.

Although the real pooch doesn’t look particularly impressed by the giant replica. Mr Doggett said: “It is pretty cool. I think they tend to make one every year but this one is really great.”

Baley has now ‘returned to his kennel’ according to Mr Roberts’ brother Andy. The structure has proved a hit on social media, with some Twitter users saying they ‘love it’ and others hailing it as ‘brilliant’.

The scarecrow festival took place last weekend.
