Villagers take part in The Horn Dance, performed every year at Abbots Bromley

The custom dates back hundreds of years in Abbots Bromley, Staffordshire.

It sees six ‘Deermen’ collect their horns from St Nicholas Church before taking to the streets to perform the Morris-style dance in two lines with a hobby horse, a fool, a boy with a bow and arrow, a jester, musicians and Maid Marion – a man in a dress.

It traditionally always takes place on Wakes Monday, which is the first Monday to fall after September 4.
