Sarah Jessica Parker has said she cannot imagine making a third Sex And The City film without Kim Cattrall.

The pair co-starred in the hit TV series and two films, but plans for a third movie ground to a halt last year after Cattrall, 62, indicated she was not interested.

The news reignited long-running rumours of a rift between the pair, which was fuelled when Cattrall was quoted as saying the cast were “never friends” and that Parker “could have been nicer” after she turned down the movie.

Cattrall also later criticised Parker for reaching out when her brother Christopher Cattrall died, writing on Instagram: “I don’t need your love or support at this tragic time Sarah Jessica Parker.”

A fan has now posted a message to Parker on Instagram asking whether the film could go ahead without Cattrall’s character, man-eater Samantha Jones.

“You are still my hero. Please replace or write her out kim/samantha if she is not interested and bring back sex and the city movie #3. the fans need this,” the person pleaded.

Parker, who played sex columnist Carrie Bradshaw, responded: “Not sure if I can imagine doing another movie without her. X.”

Parker and Cattrall starred alongside Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon in the show about four women and their love lives, which ran from 1998 to 2004 and sparked spin-off films in 2008 and 2010.

Parker has previously expressed disappointment that a third film would not be made but earlier this year she said in an interview that she respected Cattrall’s decision to say no.

“I’d just like to remind everybody that there is no catfight,” she told Vulture.

“I have never uttered an unkind, unsupportive, unfriendly word, so I would love to redefine it.

“I also want to remind everybody that there were four women on the set and I spent equal time with all of them, so this was not a set with two women who didn’t get along.”

Parker, 53, said she had always held Cattrall’s work “in high regard”.

“If she chooses not to do the third movie, there’s not a lot I can do to change her mind and we must respect it,” said the actress.
