Sunday Brunch presenter Simon Rimmer is the latest celebrity to join the line-up for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.

The TV chef was revealed as the seventh contestant who will take to the dance floor on his Sunday morning Channel 4 show, and wasted no time in attempting some moves.

As guest Martine McCutcheon egged him on, Rimmer offered a hint of a cha cha cha.

Following the announcement, he said: “I am so excited, terrified and proud to be invited to be part of Strictly 2017.

“I’ve always been a HUUUUGE fan of the show. When I put on my sequins and hit the floor it will genuinely be my very first time dancing ballroom and latin.

“Nobody will try harder, have more fun or get more out of it than me. I can’t wait.”

He told his Sunday Brunch co-host Tim Lovejoy he had “never danced in my life”, and joked since becoming a father he had lost any coordination between the top half and bottom half of his body.

Aside from Sunday Brunch, Rimmer has presented and cooked on shows across the BBC, ITV, Channel 5 and UKTV – including Tricks Of The Restaurant Trade, Breaking Into Tesco’s, Eat The Week, Great British Menu and Win It, Cook It.

He has also written five books and owns nine restaurants in the North West of England and another in Dubai.

He joins a list of celebrities made up of Mollie King, Davood Ghadami, Ruth Langsford, Gemma Atkinson, Rev Richard Coles and Joe McFadden.
