Helen James, 48, and her daughter Kaisha Thrower, 20, have hosted a number of special doorstep concerts outside of their home on Shaftsbury Road, in Wednesbury.

Helen, who has recently gone back to study popular music at University of Wolverhampton, used to tour the country singing.

Due to Covid-19, she has not been able to get out on the road this year, but that has not stopped her putting her musical talents to use.

On Christmas Eve, Helen and Kaisha both performed a Christmas concert for their neighbours before the 6pm bell ring.

Helen said: “We have been doing it all year through lockdown, we did a big VE Day performance, as well as discos and songs for the NHS.

"As it was Christmas we wanted to do something to cheer people up, so we put the speakers out and sang Christmas songs and carols.

“Kaisha and I were out singing for around one hour and everyone absolutely loved it and said it felt a lot more like Christmas.”

Helen’s husband Spencer Throwerhas been helping with the sound during the performances.
