Over the summer the 25-year-old dominated the airwaves with top 10 single Wish You Well, a collaboration with British record producer and DJ Sigala.

And this month she released new mini-album Get To Know ahead of announcing her own tour in 2020.

It will also come hot on the heels of supporting Irish band The Script for 21 shows across the UK and Europe.

Now Becky, who secured another huge summer hit with I Could Get Used To This, featuring rising UK house producer Weiss, is determined to establish herself as a star in her own right.

And she says 2019 has been an important year for her, having seen her reach new audiences and continue to develop her fan base.

"It's been a good year," she says. "For a long time people knew my songs but didn't know my name or my face. This year has been a positive step forward for me," adds Becky.

It's been seven years since she first grabbed our attention with her powerful rendition of John Legend's Ordinary People on The Voice in 2012.

Since then she's had a run of hit singles including chart-topper Gecko (Overdrive), produced by Oliver Heldens and Back & Forth, a collaboration with Jonas Blue.

But she is ready to step into her own spotlight and has given fans a taste of what they can expect from her in the future on Get To Know.

As well as being collection of all the songs she has written and featured on, starting from the age of 19, all the way up to 25, it also includes four new tracks - Changing, Find A Place, Breakdown and Stranger.

"I describe it as the greatest hits plus four new songs. It's not my debut album, that will come next year or the year after," says Becky, who has been described as having "one of the finest voices in pop music today" by Radio 1's Annie Mac.

When penning lyrics, the former Bewdley High School pupil, who is now based in London, finds inspiration from her own life experiences.

One of the new tracks, Stranger, questions if she ever really knew her lover while Breakdown, is an emotive reflection on the dying throes of a relationship.

"Whether it's loss, happiness, heartbreak - I write it all from the heart," says Becky, who finds the writing process both cathartic and incredibly rewarding.

"Writing for me is a form of release, I find it quite therapeutic. If I'm going through something or feeling a certain way, I find it very useful that I can go write about it and express it in a form of music and sing it on stage - it's quite a nice feeling," she says.

Her smash summer hit with Sigala came after she attended one of his writing camps with the song already written on her phone and they crafted the finished product together.

"I love writing for other people , there is less pressure that when I'm writing for myself because I don't need to say it how I would say if I was writing for myself," says Becky.

Although now based in London, which has been home for the past seven years, Becky still manages to make it back to Bewdley to see her family and friends.

"I was back at the weekend. I try to come back as much as possible because it's really nice to spend time with my family. My mum took me to Cadbury World at the weekend," she says.

After a busy 2019, she says she 'can't wait' to join The Script on their European tour and is also looking forward to headlining her own shows including one at the Birmingham's O2 Institute on April 3.

The rising star has become known for her on-stage energy and one the highlights of year has been performing on the summer music festival circuit.

"The festivals have been really good, Reading and Leeds especially - the tent was packed.

"I've played there two or the years and the audience has grown from strength to strength, it's been gratifying this year," she says.

Her confidence on stage and ability to command a crowd seemingly with ease comes from the belief she has in her strong voice.

"I know when I sing on stage I can wow my audience with my voice. I'm confident in how I'm singing to be able to go out there and sing for half an hour or 40 minutes and have people singing back the lyrics - there is no other feeling like it," says Becky.

Establishing a successful solo career for herself is her priority going in to 2020 and she believes the timing is right to make her dream become a reality.

"I really feel there has been a lot of momentum this year, gearing up for next year. I feel I have everything in place in terms of singles to really waves in the industry next year," she says.
