Dementia store Mindful Gifts CIC in Church Street has opened the Rewind shop just down the road for people suffering from the disease.

It has a vinyl record section where individuals can browse through LPs and singles from all genres and play their favourites on the record player.

Founder of Mindful Gifts CIC and Rewind Vicki Phipps said she wanted to make sure the shop was dementia-friendly.

She said: "Our existing shop in Darlaston was getting too small for us and because vinyl is a massive trend at the moment we wanted to extend this for everyone.

"Our new Rewind shop, a couple of doors down to our Mindful Gifts CIC shop provides a place where people can re-kindle their memories of going to buy their favourite record and chatting to others about their passion of music."

Mindful Gifts CIC opened in 2014 and specialises in gifts and products for people with dementia. But Rewind specialises in just vinyl and records.

Vicki added about Mindful: "The shop has proven that stepping into the past works for people with dementia and when they utilise their senses by smelling the carbolic soap, tasting the traditional sweets and listening to music this provokes emotions that connect to a memory.

"People love to tell their stories and feel much happier about sharing their happy memories."
