Pupils from Wolverhampton College were working behind the scenes ahead of their Live, Loud and Local gig at Slade Rooms, which they have organised.

Bands from across the region will take to the stage at the city centre venue next month.

Wolverhampton-based cover band Carbon Copy will headline the event at the Broad Street venue, joined by rock group Glory Fades and The Borgias.

Students have put together the event as part of their coursework for the two-year University of the Arts London Level 3 extended diploma in music performance and production.

They are working behind the scenes – testing their skills in live sound, lighting engineering, artist liason, venue logistics and concert production.

Jo Slater, curriculum manager for music technology at the college, said: “The event is a culmination of two years of hard work, commitment and dedication from our students and is a chance for them to put everything they have learnt into practice to create a fantastic event, as well as celebrate the end of their course and all that they have achieved.”

The event will take place on June 7, with doors opening at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £6 or £5 for students from the Midlands Box Office, the college's music department at Paget Road, or on the door.
