Wolverhampton band The Nightingales to perform at Newhampton Arts Centre

Wolverhampton-based band The Nightingales are to return for a hometown show at the Newhampton Arts Centre on Easter Sunday.

The show follows the release of the group's tenth album, Perish The Thought, and will be their last local show for some time it has been announced.

The Nightingales are also set to be the subject of a forthcoming documentary by award-winning comedian Stewart Lee as well as Brass Eye and Toast of London director Michael Cumming, a former University of Wolverhampton student.

A preview of the film, titled King Rocker, was recently previewed by the pair as part of the recent Wolverhampton Literature Festival.

The group formed in the 1980's by Cannock-born frontman Robert Lloyd members of Birmingham's original punk group The Prefects. They split in 1986 before reforming in 2004.
