The Enville Street Dramatic Society were at the Ryemarket Shopping Centre on Saturday(20) ahead of their performances of A Murder Is Announced next month.

The play, which has been adapted by Leslie Darbon, will be at Amblecote Holy Trinity Church Hall between November 7 and November 10.

An announcment in the local paper states the time and place when a murder is to occur in Miss Blacklock's Victorian house. The victim is not one of the house's several occupants, but an unexpected and unknown visitor.

What follows is a classic Christie puzzle of mixed motives, concealed identities, a second death, a determined Inspector grimly following the twists and turns and Miss Marple on hand to provide the final solution at some risk to herself in a dramatic confrontation just before the final curtain.

Wendy Hemming, director and publicity officer, said: "We were publicising the play out and about in Stourbridge, and people were in costume handing out leaflets.

"Tickets are selling well but we still have a long way to go.

"It is one of Agatha Christie's most famous plays – the version we are doing has been adapted for the stage. It is quite a light version with some humour it and not a lot of long sequences. It is very modern but still very traditional Agatha Christie."

Tickets cost £10.
