Gladys Knight to play Birmingham

The 'Empress of Soul' Gladys Knight will play Birmingham Symphony Hall next year.

The 74-year-old music icon is a seven-time Grammy Award-winner, and is an inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

She is best known for a range of hits, including Midnight Train To Georgia, Help Me Make It Through The Night, The Way We Were, Baby Don't Change Your Mind, You're The Best Thing and many more.

The American singer, songwriter, actress, businesswoman, humanitarian and author also recorded the theme song for the 1989 James Bond film License to Kill.

She is listed on Rolling Stone's list of the Greatest Singers of All Time, and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1995.

Gladys Knight will play Birmingham's Symphony Hall on June 24.
