No Parlez was the 62-year-old Bedfordshire star's debut solo album, and featured hit songs such as Come Back and Stay, Love of The Common People, and a cover of Marvin Gaye's Wherever I Lay My Hat.

The record went to number one in the UK charts for five weeks and was certified as triple platinum.

Paul began his music career when he joined Kat Kool and The Kool Kats. He went onto to join Streetband in the late 1970s, which then became Q-Tips with the addition of Dave Lathwell and Baz Watts.

Q-Tips disbanded in 1982, and Paul was signed by Columbia Records as a solo performer.

The vocalist has since released eight full-length studio albums, one live album, 13 compilation albums and 36 singles.

Paul Young comes to Birmingham Town Hall on October 3.
