Jorja Smith up for three awards

Walsall star Jorja Smith has been nominated for three titles by a national awards body which recognises up and coming acts.

The singer is up for Best Songwriter, Best Female Solo Act and Best Record at the UMA Awards, which are ran in partnership with Live Nation.

Jorja has been hugely successful since releasing her debut single Blue Lights in 2016, winning the BRIT's Critics Choice Award back in December.

She has also worked with the likes of Drake, Stormzy and Maverick Sabre.

The UMA Awards is a televised awards show held annually to recognise the achievements of artists that are not signed to a record deal, who are yet to be discovered or have chosen to remain independent.

The UMA Awards ceremony will take place at Brighton's Main Arena on May 16.

Birmingham singer Tayla has also been nominated in the awards for Best Urban Act.
