Archaeology Family Day
Did you know that one of the biggest archaeological digs in the UK is taking place right here in Birmingham? As part of the preparations for HS2’s phase one, an archaeological team from MOLA Headland is excavating the Park Street burial ground, close to the city centre. They’ve been discovering new information about life and death in Birmingham during the 19th Century and are thrilled to be at the Coffin Works to share their findings with you.
While you’re here, children can also take part in a small replica archaeological dig, and learn more about the human body from our experts. Visitors will also be able to handle some of the artefacts found at Park Street.
There’s no need to book – just come along and see us!
