Deborah Tate has started off a chicken wire decoration Christmas trend. Her decorating technique has gone viral on TikTok almost more than one million views

Deborah Tate from Wordsley has become an overnight sensation on TikTok after her niece Corall Jones posted a video of her putting up her special decorations on the site.

More than one million views have been recorded of the video, which shows Mrs Tate fixing her decorations to chicken wire, an idea the 47-year-old hairdresser said she got from an internet pop up.

She said: "I was using Google when a pop up came up showing Amanda Holden's Christmas decorations from 2019 and I started to think about how I could do the same thing.

"Being at home during lockdown, I had a lot of time to think about it and decided to use chicken wire, because it's really flexible, and bits of old Christmas trees."

Mrs Tate said going viral on TikTok, with the video being viewed more one million times, had been really good as it had started a nationwide trend for decorations.

She said that recycling items was the key to making decorations such as hers and said she was very proud to see people following the trend she had set.

She said: "A lady contacted me this week to ask about how I did the decorations, so it's really nice to see people are inspired by it and want to do something similar.

"I got started on it by thinking I would have a go at this and I did it and everyone who goes past the house says how amazing it looks.

"I really am very proud to have started a trend and I would encourage people to recycle and get creative as you can end up with something beautiful."
