The Fizz, which includes Cheryl Baker, Mike Nolan and Jay Aston formerly of Bucks Fizz, with special guest Bobby McVay, performed at Dudley Town Hall on Thursday night to cheers and applause before they even got on stage.

Cheryl and Jay sizzled in sparkling gold sequins, whilst the boys wore 80's inspired white skinny jeans and oversized jackets.

Combined with the colourful lighting and nostalgic footage of the band through the years played on a screen behind them, this was a show that took the audience right back to their teenage years.

A 'fizzy whizzy medley' of classics such as 'One Way Love', 'Suzanne' and 'I hear talk' were delivered in a well-woven, seamless and energetic fashion, with the group even delivering choreographed dance moves.

The 1981 track, 'Piece Of The Action' went down a storm, with some audience members dancing in the wings throughout.

A poignant ballad was delivered by Jay in song 'Great Expectations', which was accompanied by footage of the late Marilyn Monroe. She said: "You see a lot of performers come through shows like X Factor and things like that and they wonder what will happen when the bubble bursts. Well, this is about that."

The show was a fitting gig in the group's 35th anniversary 'The Make Believe Tour' which sees them play Durham tonight and Stockport on July 20.

Indeed, the group have played in Dudley before.

Jay said: "Last time we were hear was about 2009. Then, we had a screen precariously placed on the back there, and by the end of the gig, our production manager Steve had to hold it up.

"They were a great audience then, and I'm sure you'll be even more great tonight."

The group is touring in part to promote its latest album - 'The Fizz: New Album'.
