The Longhorn pub on Sutton Road has officially reopened to the public after being revamped.

The pub, which is part of the Ember Inns chain, has had the bar and kitchen areas refurbished.

The pub was officially reopened by the mayor of Walsall and mayoress of Walsall Paul and Christine Bott, who cut a ribbon opening the pub and made a speech to those in attendance.

For Alison Frost, General Manager of the Longhorn, the re-opening of the pub is important for the whole community.

She said: "To me, it means everything for the pub to be reopened. We have a great local community and they now have a beautiful new pub to enjoy themselves in and socialise together."

There were also representatives of Team GB Judo in attendance as Birmingham Female Personality of the year Lubjana Piovesana, a two-time World Bronze medallist and Kelly Petersen-Pollard, who won gold at the European Junior Championships in Finland last week.

Both ladies are also members of staff at the Longhorn and will be combining their training at University of Wolverhampton with shifts at the pub.

Alison Frost said: "We have world class athletes who provide a world class service. Both are being considered for Olympic selection and we are proud of both of them."

The celebrations continued into the evening, with a performance by choir group Dynamix and table top magic by Owen Strickland.
