The Foresters Arms was recommended for it's welcoming atmosphere by members of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) organisation as part of their 'Summer of Pub' campaign.

The pub has become a popular destination for dogs and their owners over the years.

Trudie Evans, who runs the pub with her husband Dave, said "It's probably because Dave walks around with dog biscuits in his pocket."

"He's like the Pied Piper when dogs come in, they all know he's got a treat for them."

"Lots of people travel here from Birmingham because there aren't any dog-friendly pubs in Birmingham. That, and there's the woods and the canal route around here for people who love to walk with their dogs as well."

The couples love of dogs even stems in to running dog-themed events to raise money for charity.

In 2018 they released a dog calendar in aid of for The Georgina Unit at Russells Hall Hospital, and next year will see them release another dog calendar which will raise money for the same cause.

This Summer, they ran their first dog show, with 50 dogs competing in a number of categories including 'Best in show'.

The eventual winner was a former Romanian street dog who the judges "just couldn't resist".

In all, £282 was raised at the event, which was donated to Raven's Rescue UK, a charity which helps rehome rescue animals.

Trudie said that she's really proud of what they do for dogs at the pub.

"We have three dogs ourselves so it's something we're really passionate about and it's lovely that they've recognised us like this."
