The live art project, called Dreaming Tower Ballroom, has been launched to revive the cultural history of the Tower Ballroom in Edgbaston and will reinterpret the memories through art.

The project, managed by Bertz Associates, has received art funding from Arts Council England and Birmingham City Council. It is hoped that it will boost spirits during the coronavirus pandemic.

Located on the bank of the Edgbaston reservoir the Tower Ballroom is currently in a disused state and earmarked for demolition leading to development.

The venue began life as a skating rink in 1827.

Over the years it has transformed into a dance hall, sports arena and music venue.

The project hosted online at www.towerballroom.net is a submission board for the public to upload their memories and artworks.
