Blists Hill - Telford

Treat your mum to a day out in a bygone era at Blists Hill Victorian Town.

The attraction offers live demonstrations, such as displays of Victorian remedies at the pharmacy and foundrymen pouring molten iron.

There's also the opportunity to change money into old pounds, shillings and pence, enjoy a bag of fish and chips cooked in beef dripping, or taste traditional sweets.

Afternoon tea at the club room is also on offer.

Ludlow Market

Located in the heart of Ludlow, this market has taken place in front of the castle for more than 900 years.

This market is ideal for foodie mums, with producers selling traditional food made in the traditional way, from bread made with slow-rise dough, to hand-raised pork pies, and fresh fruit and vegetables, many of them from local farms.

There is also an array of fabric stalls, selling beautiful materials.

A special Mother's Day market will take place on March 11.

Attingham Park - near Shrewsbury

Take mum on a tour around this 18th century mansion, from the flashy but flawed picture gallery roof that contributed to the bankruptcy of the second Lord Berwick, to the prized paintings of the cattle that the fifth lord loved.

New to the attraction is the chance to to uncover more about the stories of the Women of the Shropshire Adult Education College based at Attingham from 1948 to 1976. The College was based on the west side of the Mansion at the same time that Lady Berwick lived on the east side.

Introduced this year is also a display of how the college used the dining room as a music room and lecture theatre.

Attingham Park also boasts a walled garden, parkland, a deer park and the River Tern to explore.

Apley Shopping Village and Farm Shop

Why not have a stroll around Apley Shopping Village with your mum this Mother's Day?

Based at Norton, Shifnal, the retail park boasts a garden centre; a pottery, painting and craft studio; a delicatessen; a farm shop; a walled secret garden; and Scotty's Donkeys and Animal Park.

The Village also offers breakfast, lunches and afternoon tea.

Lion Quays Hotel and Spa - Owsestry

Treat you mum to a luxurious day at Lion Quays, located in the heart of the Oswestry countryside.

The venue offers a range of spa day packages, including the Spa and Lunch deal for £49 for person in the week or £59 per person on a weekend. Half day experiences are also available, as well as 'Celebration Spa' and 'Champagne Spa' packages.

Sing-a-long Mamma Mia! at Light House Cinema - Wolverhampton

Is your Mamma Mia an ABBA fan? Why not take her along to a one-off sing-a-long screening of Mamma Mia! at the Light House in Wolverhampton.

The city centre venue is hosting the event specially for Mother's Day at 1pm on Sunday.

The Lock Works cafe bar will be open from midday for light lunches, cakes and drinks - including prosecco. Bar drinks may be taken into the screening.

Tickets cost £4.50 for under 25s and students, £7.20 for adults and £6.45 for concessions.

Weston Park Mother's Day Afternoon Tea - Weston-under-Lizard

Take your mum for a stroll around the sprawling grounds of Weston Park, located at Weston-under-Lizard, on the Staffordshire/Shropshire border.

The attraction is putting on a special afternoon tea for Mother's Day in the venue's Victorian Orangery.

The menu includes a selection of finger sandwiches, a creme fraiche and asparagus savoury tart, and a range of cakes, from homemade fruit scones served with Cornish clotted cream and homemade jam, to strawberry and cream macaroons, white chocolate and Merlyn’s mousse cup, and mini Welsh cakes. Tea and coffee is also included.

Tickets cost £27.50 per person or £33.50 with a gin fizz or prosecco. This also includes entry to the park and gardens.

Wolverhampton Art Gallery

Your mum doesn't need to be the arty type to enjoy a few hours at Wolverhampton Art Gallery for Mother's Day.

It's open seven days of the week and currently has a variety of exhibitions to enjoy. On Sunday, opening hours are 11am till 4pm.

Among these include Clangers, Bagpuss & Co. which goes behind the scenes of children's TV shows such as Bagpuss, the Clangers, Pogles’ Wood, Noggin the Nog and Ivor the Engine.

TV Puppets: Icons From 80 Years of Entertainment is another show to send your mum back to her childhood, with exhibits ranging from simple hand puppets such as Iver from The Hoobs to elaborate marionettes such as Lady Penelope and Parker from Thunderbirds. Audience favourites such as Basil Brush and caricatures from ITV’s Spitting Image are also on show.

Diaspora Pavilion: Venice to Wolverhampton, meanwhile, showcases the work of 10 artists whose practices relate to the concept of diaspora during the 57th Venice Biennale at Palazzo Pisani a Santa Marina in Venice.

There is also the Apna Heritage Archive Exhibition, which shows a collection of 2000 photographs exploring Punjabi migration to Wolverhampton from the 1960s to the1980s.

Halfpenny Vineyard - Bobbington, Wolverhampton

Though they don't run on Sundays, why not treat your mum to a pre-booked tour around Wolverhampton's very own vineyard for Mother's Day - or a gin or wine-tasting session.

The tours, which are for individuals or small groups, including a tasting and a set two course meal. They run in the daytime and evening.
