Tolkien fans mark 50th anniversary with Birmingham event

A society which celebrates the work of JRR Tolkien, author of Lord Of The Rings, is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

The Tolkien Society, founded in 1969, will be holding a five day event in Birmingham from August 7 to 11.

The event includes talks and panels from a large range of Tolkien scholars, an exhibition of Tolkien Society archives, workshops, an orchestral performance, and an art exhibition.

There will be more than 500 Tolkien fans attending in what is one of the largest Tolkien events ever held in the UK.

The event is being held at Medicine Bakery and Gallery, 69a New Street, Birmingham.
