The green spaces will be in full bloom ahead of the Easter holidays as temperatures rise in the region.

A picturesque garden, tucked in behind a black and white gate of a Victorian houses, will be on display for visitors and gardeners alike.

John's Garden at Ashwood Nurseries

Described as a "haven", the 23 St John's Road garden features bulbs and masses of herbaceous plants.

It features among a water-lily wildlife pond, along with greenhouses, at the centre of the garden.

Ferns, which grow in shaded areas, are also on show.

Home-made cakes by the pond or the Victoria-style greenhouse will be on offer from the outdoor kitchen.

The gardener, Fiona Horwath, is a keen Hardy Plant Society member who grows too many seeds – meaning the rest will be on sale to help spruce up people's own garden.

It will open today between 2pm and 5pm.

Wine and nibbles are included in the admission price – £4 for adults, with children going free.

Don't fret if you miss it – the garden in Stafford is open by arrangement for groups, or for those who want a bespoke visit.

The spot will also open on May 17 and June 13.

John's Garden at Ashwood Nurseries, in Kingswinford, will also be open – featuring a large plant collection in a canal-side setting.

A rock garden, an Anemone pavonina meadow, woodland dells and wildlife meadow feature in the space.

The green spot, a private garden, features bulbs and spring-flowering plants, along with a collection of Malus and Amelanchier will be on display.

A tea room, garden centre and gift shop is available at the adjacent Ashwood Nurseries.

Disabled access to the Ashwood Lower Lane garden is difficult when wet.

It will open on Sunday between 10am to 4pm.

Entry costs £5 with children going free.
