Moseley Old Hall, in Featherstone, near Wolverhampton, is seeking volunteers to help lend a hand around the property.

The home is where King Charles II famously hid from Cromwell's troops after fleeing from the Battle of Worcester in 1651.

Volunteer Jack Moore is helping with a display in the chapel.

James Eden, property operations manager at Moseley Old Hall, said: "Moseley Old Hall relies on volunteer support for it to be enjoyed by the many visitors we receive each year.

"This year we expect to receive 64,000 visitors through the door. In total we have over 150 volunteers who currently undertake a variety of different roles across the property.

"Not only does volunteering help Moseley Old Hall operate but there are also benefits for the individuals who volunteer. For example it can help people meet new people and make new friends, help build social skills and increase confidence as well as learning new skills and knowledge.

"We currently have roles available across all areas of the property – including in our visitor reception, tea room, house and garden.

"We are looking for people of all ages & backgrounds to join us and it doesn’t matter how much or little time you have to spare. We would appreciate any support people can offer.’

Open days at the historic property will take place at January 18 and January 19.

Budding volunteers will be able to meet the current team of volunteers from 10am until 2pm.
