The Bear Grylls Adventure at NEC will be based on the TV adventurer's own experiences

Due to open in the autumn, it has been designed around real-life challenges faced by the TV explorer and adventurer and a series of activities at the attraction's Basecamp are aimed at giving people the skills they will need.

Basecamp which is designed as the heart of the attraction, will consist of four team and individual challenges inspired by Bear’s own military experiences and past adventures from across the globe.

SEE how the adventure will look:

All visitors will experience Basecamp in addition to the other adventures already announced – indoor freefall, climbing, diving and walking the high ropes.

The Basecamp will include a maze, an assault course, target archery and escape rooms where it will be a race against time to crack codes, solve puzzles and find the way out using logic and resourcefulness.

General manager, James Thomas said: “Basecamp is at the heart of The Bear Grylls Adventure and is the first part of the attraction visitors will experience.

It has been designed to heighten senses and skills as well as test the physical and mental ability of any budding adventurers.

“Guests will have to dig deep and work with their team to overcome the four mental and physical tasks in Basecamp.

The 90-minute experience is available from only £25 per person and is designed for those with a willingness to test their limits and face the unknown.”

The Bear Grylls Adventure is the newest UK attraction to be built by Merlin, the theme park group that also owns Alton Towers.

Merlin is also looking to recruit 'Adrenaline Advisors' to test the new attraction.
