Ow Bin Ya Sands is set to transform the attraction's Sensory Garden into a beach play area, just in time for the May half-term holiday.

A total of 80 tonnes of sand is being piled into a large wooden frame, measuring almost 50ft by 30ft, so youngsters can make play and make sandcastles when taking a break from seeing the animals.

Dudley Zoo’s marketing manager, Andrea Hales, said the beach will give visitors 'something fun and different to enjoy'.

“Ow Bin Ya Sands is in a super spot, in the shadows of Dudley Castle and overlooking the town," she commented.

The mock beach will boast heaps of buckets and spades, two giant deckchairs, three seaside photo peep boards and picnic tables for the whole family to enjoy.

Ow Bin Ya Sands will open on May 26.
