More than 2,000 lucky applicants between the ages of 16 and 25 are set to take part in the Birmingham 2022 event at a secret location this April.

Choreographer Rosie Kay will be creating a piece for participants to learn that will be seen by an estimated 'worldwide audience of one billion people', representing the young and diverse population of the city.

Talking about awarding the 2022 Games to Birmingham, Commonwealth Games Federation president Louise Martin CBE, said: “With its rich history, cultural diversity, youthful dynamism and ambitious spirit, Birmingham embodies all that we cherish about the Commonwealth, and so the Commonwealth Sports Movement looks forward to collaborating with all the games partners to showcase the city’s humanity and pride to a global audience over the coming months and years.”

Applicants must be able to commit to a 'try out' session on either March 30, March 31 or April 3, as well as rehearsal sessions between the dates of April 7 and 11.

All day rehearsals will then take place on April 12, 13 and 14, ahead of the performance date on April 15.
