People often say that Christmas officially begins when the festive John Lewis advert hits our TV screens — but this year, the ad hasn’t even been released yet, and it’s already creating a buzz.

Over the weekend, the retailer sent social media into overdrive after dropping a major clue about what might feature in its much-anticipated Christmas campaign.

In a short teaser post, a hand is seen setting up a record player, followed by a fleeting snippet of music — with the date November 4 flashing up at the end.
