Museum of Cannock Chase will hold the events on October 29, 30 and 31, between 11am and 4pm.

On the Thursday and Friday, children can take part in the craft sessions – which will see them making a peg monster and black cat Halloween decoration.

There will be three sessions, which last an hour over both days. Tickets must be booked in advance so the museum can stick to social-distancing guidelines.

While on the Saturday, families can take part in the outdoor spooky adventure trail where they will encounter characters along the way as they collect six ingredients for a potion.

Throughout the three days, staff will be dressed up in Halloween costumes and visitors are also encouraged to do so.

Rachel Gentle, the museum visitor services officer, said: "People have to book the craft sessions to make a peg monster and black cat Halloween decoration in advance in order for us to follow the social distancing guidelines. They last an hour and there will be three sessions each day.

"Then, on the Saturday, we have our spooky adventure trail which families have to register for in advance.

"Children will receive a map of the site called Mysterious Museum. They have got to find six ingredients to make a magic potion and they will bump into different characters along the way.

"There is a task to complete in each area and if they collect us six ingredients there will be a prize.

"Normally for Halloween we have a lot more drop-in activities and we have a lot more people on site.

"It's normally our busiest time but because of Covid we have had to scale it back and make sure the numbers are monitored.

"All of our staff will be in Halloween costumes and visitors are welcome to join us in costumes too."

Tickets for the craft sessions cost £3 per child, while the adventure trail costs £2.
