Rumours circulated on social media suggesting the fast food chain could open up on the former site of electronic shop Goulds TV, in Bilston Street.

However a KFC spokesman said: “No news on this one yet Black Country chicken fans. To find your nearest fix, visit kfc.co.uk/find-us.”

There were plans to turn the former site of Goulds, which closed down on June 2018, into an Aldi supermarket. However these plans have not come to light so far.

Plans are being drawn up behind the scenes for a new development on the site, but local planners are remaining tight-lipped.

Sedgley ward councillor Michael Evans said: "It is certainly not going to be a KFC. At the moment I can't say anymore on this."

KFC closed down its Wolverhampton store, located at the Mander Centre, this month in a bid to find a smaller premises in the city centre.
