Beverley Knight will feature on the South Bank Show

The show will air tonight on Sky Arts at 10pm and will feature one of the West Midlands most successful musical artists discussing her experiences growing up in Wolverhampton and her first steps into the industry.

The South Bank Show has been on television screens since 1978 and was previously on ITV before moving to Sky Arts in 2012.

Beverley will feature on the second episode of the eighth series since it moved channels, and will see presenter Melvyn Bragg chat to the singing sensation about her life.

Thanking the team at Sky Arts on Twitter, Beverley said: “I could cry with pride and joy.”

Beverley has recently been honoured by Wolverhampton Council with the Freedom of the City.

The singer was honoured for both her services to the city at a specially-arranged civic function.

Beverley, 45, said she was overwhelmed by the honour – and only wished her father could have been there to witness the moment.
